Ministry Information:

Location: Galmi, Niger
Mission: SIM (Serving In Mission)
Ministry details: Deborah is the first Occupational Therapist to work at Galmi Hospital. During her first term she pioneered the development of the Department of Rehabilitation and has begun training a Nigerien nurse to work as a therapist assistant.

Each day, Deb. sees patients from all age demographics who have a wide variety of diagnoses, which include: amputations, burns, orthopedic injuries, stroke, traumatic brian injuries, spinal cord injuries, developmental delays, and congenital deformities. The Rehab Department also runs a weekly Club Foot Clinic which uses serial casting and splinting to make the lame walk, literally.

Deb. has also written a project through SIM that will provide for a prosthetics clinic on the hospital property, as well as a center where burn compression garments can be fabricated and terrain-appropriate wheelchairs can be built.

Galmi Hospital was started in 1950 ( HYPERLINK "http://www.galmi.org" www.galmi.org) by pioneer missionaries, Dr. Burt and Ruth Long. The hospital has grown and transformed since then. Currently with 120 inpatient beds and over 300 outpatients seen each day, Galmi Hospital is spreading the love of God through word and deed.

Deb will be returning to Galmi Hospital. Pray as there will be much to do upon her arrival.

Continue to pray for Deb and the many meetings she has upon return.

She gives thanks for counselors who have encouraged her in life and ministry.
