Nativity Wrap-up
Although the snowstorm canceled two nights of the final weekend, there are many stories of God’s ability to work through the Nativity – even when it did not run. Here are a few to warm your heart and see the sovereignty of God in the midst of the storm. Lorraine Stewart shared the first story:
“One evening when I was meeting and greeting people, little did I know that The Lord would bring lots of little children to me that night. Two children stood out in my mind, and one really affected me. The first little girl, who was from Trinity Baptist Church in Philadelphia, ran over to me and hugged my legs and said, ‘I love you. You look like my teacher.’ I told her I loved her too. She was so cute and it was her first time to the Nativity. We talked for a while and I met her mom. They left with the rest of the group, but not before she kept hugging me and holding my hand in a beautiful navy blue dress and dress coat.
Boys and girls brought me lots of joy that night. Later that evening, I met a little girl with a beautiful smile. I bent down to her and told her I loved her coat with all the fir around the hood and she thanked me. Her mom said it was from Good Will and that she is their miracle baby. I asked her what her favorite Nativity scene was and she said she loved all the angels and wanted to know how they were flying. She said she was five years old. I asked her what school she went to and her mom said it was a special needs school. I was surprised. Then I noticed her chapped lips and her fly-away hair from the static. I gently moved her hair down and her mom said she had a brain tumor and they removed it and they did not even have to shave her head. All the time she kept looking at me and smiling. I asked her if she enjoyed the cookies and her dad explained that they did not have dinner yet, so they didn’t want her to have any. I asked if I could take her to the table to give her some to bring home and they said that would be great. She took my hand and I took a Styrofoam cup and let her pick four cookies to put in the cup. She was so happy. Mom and Dad thanked me, she gave me a hug, and they left. I don’t remember her name – it really does not matter – but she is one of God’s great miracles and I got to hug her. Thank you, Lord for the opportunity!”
Even when the Nativity was canceled, God was still drawing hearts to himself. Below is a story from Denny Rigstad:
“Sunday, December 13th, I had six Chinese adults and two children in our home for dinner. We were supposed to proceed to the Nativity, but the rain interfered. Instead, we watched some of the Jesus film in Mandarin … they got far more from it than I did!!!! Again there were a number of conversations about the gospel. They wanted to know if we could find a way to get them to the Nativity the following Saturday if they organized a group to go.”
Although Saturday ended up being canceled, it is obvious that God’s timing is perfect, and His Glory has shown brightly during this Nativity season.
